Job Purpose

The Non-Formal Education Coordinator will plan and implement I AM YOU’s education programs. The main aim of the role is to ensure that a high standard of education excellence is being offered in areas identified as necessary in conjunction with the residents of the camp.

 Accountability and Relationship

  • Reports to: Field Coordinator

  • Works closely with: All actors on site who provide an education component, camp residents, MoE REC, Greek National Education Working Group, counterparts at other NGOs across Greece and the Social Media Volunteer

  • Manages: Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Education Volunteer 

Main Responsibilities

  • Project planning: prepare project plans, design curricula and manage new ideas for further development

  • Project management: monitor current programs, manage learning spaces, oversee classes but we facilitate but do not run

  • People management: oversee education volunteers, offer one to one support for teachers, foster good working relationships between the Education team, provide training opportunities for Education volunteers

  • Finance: prepare program budgets, oversee monthly spending, report spending, contribute to fundraising effort

  • Community: conduct needs assessments to ensure IAY projects are in line with camp requirements, do community outreach, ensure mechanisms are in place to collect feedback from the community and feed this into project plans

  • External Communication: networking and attending macro level education meetings, coordinate with camp actors who provide education component, coordinate with external partners

 Skills and Experience

  • 3 years teaching experience

  • Desirable to have education project management experience

  • Background in education policy and techniques is a plus

  • Ability to multitask across different projects

  • Proficient in English is a must

  • Comfortable using a computer and Microsoft Office or G-Suite

 Transversal Skills

The successful candidate should be autonomous, dynamic, empathetic, thorough, an organized self-starter with solid interpersonal skills. It is also expected that the candidate will represent I AM YOU in all networking opportunities and ensure that any fundraising opportunity is acted upon.

 Important Information

The work is supported by a stipend and the ideal candidate will be available for 6 months minimum. You are expected to pay for your own flights, meals and accommodation during your stay. I AM YOU sponsors its staff and volunteers with shared transport on location.
